[Horseriver doesn't respond to the message, he frequently doesn't check his communicator just in general but he also refuses to answer such a video, just on principle. And disinterest, when principle doesn't hold up.
Still, he's not particularly difficult to find. The shake up of the breach had made him retreat to his cabin for several days but after that he had resumed his usual habits of occasionally pacing the corridors and, more frequently, simply sitting in a common room - staring at nothing.]
Fives gives it a couple of days--for more reasons than just waiting out his supposed inmate--before he seeks Horseriver out. When he finds him he pauses at the common room door and raps his armored knuckles on the door frame to get his attention, rather than just barging in. At least he has his helmet off... and tucked under one arm, but he's not wearing it.
"I don't know if you've checked the network." He'll give him the benefit of that doubt. "But we've been paired for the month."
Horseriver is lost inside himself, a confusion of partial souls and a deep well of memory which has not been helped by his recent experiences as someone who wasn't any of him and yet was. In it's way, almost a familiar feeling but not - and it hasn't done anything for his mood. Still, he's aware enough to hear the knock and even turns slightly to look the man over. He takes Fives in, expression full of a sardonic amusement.
"You would be the new 'warden' then. What strange calendar we keep here. So, is there some reason you have sought me out?"
[For all that Tesla isn't pleased about currents and isn't entirely feeling like going around on the temporary pairings front again, he figures he ought to at least make an attempt to get in touch with the person he's paired with.]
I'd imagine you've heard the Admiral's announcement, so. We should talk.
[Now his original... annoyance has died away, Horseriver doesn't care about the temporary wardens. Usually, he doesn't contact them at all, only aware of the ones who make an effort to hunt him down. But things are slightly different this month, enough that he responses. Eventually.]
On which subject do you believe we should converse?
[It's only the 'current events' that led to even this eventually. Not that his sardonic expression reveals anything.]
This place seems to have little of relevance, even less than most realms of the dead I have heard spoken of. But, ay, there is the matter of... current events. Where do you stand on the matter?
[They tend to hunt him down eventually so responding might save time. He's not any more interested in her status as his 'warden' than he has been in any of the others.]
[ She's seen enough talk about temp wardens to know this is pretty normal. It's still annoying, though. ]
General opinion seems to be that temporary wardens don't do enough, but they don't count anyway, and nobody wants to bother but everybody's got a stick up their butt about it.
So I gotta ask, what do you actually want? Short of somehow miraculously helping you graduate within the month with only the information that can be skimmed off the network to work with, that is.
[After Odd and Horseriver finish talking, Odd lets him know, just like they agreed, and Jedao slips into Horseriver's room, the black and gold tea set tucked under one arm. He finds a spot to set it down, and checks on the Devil's ivy.]
[As always, he makes a request sound more like a concession. Tea had been new to him but he's found he likes it - as much as he likes anything. And his throat does hurt.]
Very few people knock on Horseriver's door, partly because he doesn't bother to lock it and mainly because very few people come to visit in general. Odd generally knocks, despite the fact it's open, but he rarely sounds enthusiastic about it. All together, it's strange enough that Horseriver actually opens it.
He blinks once, searching his complicated memories, before offering her one of his slightly-less-ironic-than-usual smiles.
"Hello, it has been some time, has it now." He doesn't say it as a question that he actually isn't entirely sure when it comes to the passing of time.
"Horseriver!" She bounces on the balls of her feet. "I missed you, pretty guy. I brought you something. It's a dumb something, though, there's still no gift shop here."
[It takes Horseriver several hours to respond, he doesn't exactly check his communicator frequently. With a little extra time as he decides whether to answer or not.]
[Ford makes a face. Does being murdered put you more on no-titles terms with someone or less so? He has no idea what the etiquette rules for this are.]
Horseriver, then.
I wanted to speak to to you about what you did to me, and the effect it had on Bill Cipher. First, I'd appreciate it if you refrained from any further attempts to use me as a magical conduit -- it's very inconvenient, not to mention personally unpleasant -- but second, what exactly was the nature of the curse?
